Mumbai Slums- Needs improvement
A slum is a highly populated urban residential area consisting mostly of closely packed, decrepit housing units in a situation of deteriorated or incomplete infrastructure.
Mumbai, Maharashtra is considered to be the most fascinating city, however there are so many slums in this city. One of the wealthiest and most developed regions in India is also a home to one of the world’s biggest slums. An estimated 6.5 million people, around 55 percent of Mumbai’s total population, live in slums.
The major problems faced by the people residing in slums are:
access to clean water, improved sanitation, sufficient living area, durable housing and secure tenure.
Reincarnation Association agrees that slums need better working and living conditions, adequate hygienic and safety measures, proper education, construction of toilet blocks, municipal water taps and healthcare clinics.
